Bright things leave trails

The effect adds up the picture along a path, weighted toward the bright areas. Light persists in the trail while the darks barely register, so the lights are what stream across the frame.

Four kinds of motion

Directional streaks the light along one line, a straight pan. Stream follows a flow across the frame, like light on moving water. Scrawl draws loose, looping strokes, the look of a hand moving a torch. Shake adds the jitter of a hand-held exposure.
