Three kinds of movement

Linear smears the image along a straight line at an angle you set. It reads as a camera shake or a fast pan.

Zoom pulls the image out from a centre point, the streaking of a zoom burst. Spin turns the blur around that centre, the smear of a rotating shot.

How it is built

The effect samples the image several times along the chosen path and averages the results. That is why the streak is smooth rather than a set of ghosts, and why more samples give a longer, cleaner trail.

  • BlurA soft, even blur at any radius, with no blockiness as the radius grows.
  • Depth of FieldA per-pixel circle of confusion computed from the depth inferred out of your flat image, gathered through a configurable aperture — polygonal, catadioptric or anamorphic bokeh.
  • SharpenCrisp up edges and fine detail, with a threshold that keeps flat areas from picking up noise.
