Bands cut from a noise field

The effect builds a smooth noise field and cuts it into bands, the way a contour map cuts a height. Fill paints each band in a colour from a ramp. Stroke draws only the band edges as lines. Scale, stretch, angle and warp shape the field, and Seamless wraps it so the result repeats as a texture.

Seamless has a cost: an image does not tile, so with it on, Follow can no longer bend the field to the picture, and rotation, stretch and warp are set aside.

Sized and coloured by the picture

Adapt sets what drives the bands, and Adapt Mode sets whether that changes how many there are or how large each one is. Follow mixes the picture into the field itself, so the bands fall along its tones or, set to Depth, along the depth the app infers for your image. Interpolation chooses whether the colour ramp blends in RGB or OKLCH.
