Warping the warp

The sampling position is displaced by noise, and that noise is displaced by more noise, layer on layer. The result folds in on itself in a way that looks organic and hard to reverse, which is why it reads as marble or stone.

Four fields

Marble is the veined, folded stone the technique is named for. Ridged sharpens the folds into crests. Curl turns the warp into a swirling flow. Facets breaks the picture into angular planes.
