A carrier and a modulator

A regular line pattern is the carrier, and the picture is the modulator. The picture changes how close together and how wide the lines are, so the image is written into the line density.

Three ways to write

Displace shifts the lines by the picture's tones. Intensity sets how dense the lines are. Lines changes their width, the thicker lines in the brighter areas.
