JPEG Compression

Real JPEG compression, pushed until it breaks: the artefacts come from the maths, not from a filter.

The actual pipeline

The effect runs the real JPEG steps: the picture is converted to a luminance and colour split, cut into 8×8 blocks, transformed with a discrete cosine transform, rounded against quantisation tables, and transformed back. The blocky breakdown is what that rounding leaves behind.

Colour detail

Colour Detail sets how much colour is kept. 4:4:4 keeps every colour sample, 4:2:2 halves it horizontally, and 4:2:0 halves it both ways, the smear that video and most photos are stored with.

Every option, from the app

Generated from the registry the app publishes, so this list is whatever the current build actually ships — not a copy of it.
