Black and white, nothing between

Every pixel becomes either black or white, depending on which side of a level it falls. It is the most direct way to turn a picture into a stencil, a woodcut or a one-bit print.

Choosing the cut

Global uses one level for the whole picture, so it is fast and predictable. Adaptive Mean works out the level around each area, which keeps detail in a picture with uneven light. Sauvola adapts to local contrast as well, giving the most detail in dark and busy regions.
